A FOOTBALL festival for youngsters across Darlington takes place today.
Up to 80 male and female players, aged 11 to 18, will play at the festival at the Eastbourne project centre.
The 11-a-side tournaments, split into two age groups, will feature eight teams in total, including sides from Haughton, Red Hall, Nickstream Lane, Northgate and Skerne Park.
As well as the winners, there will be prizes for fair play and most commitment.
After the matches, there will be an awards presentation, barbecue and disco for the young people and organisers.
There have already been a number of football fun days around the town, organised by Darlington Borough Council's youth services team.
Councillor Chris McEwan, the council's cabinet member for children's services, said: "We have had an exciting programme of events for young people in Darlington this summer and this is yet another one. I hope everyone involved has a great time."
