FAMILIES are being encouraged to enjoy an afternoon of storytelling activities in Darlington later this month.
The Darlington Storytelling Festival takes place at the Rockwell Local Nature Reserve, in the Haughton area, on Saturday, from 1pm to 4pm.
Mermaid characters Finella and Fintessa, as well as Captain Vago, will be telling tales about the environment and children can have a go at illustrating stories with artist Liz Million.
There will also be a chance for visitors to create their own stories at the event, organised by Darlington Borough Council's countryside team.
The nature reserve can be reached from Riverside Way.
