A WOMAN born in a pub celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday.
Ena Smith, nee Mann, was born at the Lord Nelson, Gainford, on August 15, 1907. And, like the pub, she is still going strong.
She moved to Darlington when she was five years old, and married Thomas Smith in Brixton, London.
Mrs Smith worked as a hairdresser in Darlington, Scarborough, Redcar, and London.
Later, she ran a hairdressing business from her home, in Holmlands Road, The Denes, Darlington.
She now lives in the Gardens Care Home, Darlington.
