A TOTAL of 6,000 plastics ducks are being prepared for a charity duck race later this month.
Members of the Rotary Club of Darlington and Darlington Lions Club got together in All Saints Millenium Centre, to sort and clean 3,000 yellow plastic ducks and to number another 3,000 in preparation for their charity duck race. The race will take place on next Saturday, from 2pm to 5pm, in South Park, with the ducks entering the water at 3pm.
Other attractions throughout the afternoon will include the fire brigade, raffle, guess the weight of the cake, children's rides, tombola, a live band and face painting.
The prizes include £200 for the first duck home, £100 second and £50 for third place.
Tickets are £1 and proceeds go to the Great North Air Ambulance and the Rotary West African Appeal. Call 07977-406909.
