A NEW groundsman is being sought to look after the pitch at the 96.6TFM Darlington Arena.
Darlington Football Club has invested £150,000 in the playing area, by importing a previously established pitch and installing it into the stadium for the forthcoming campaign.
The new turf was grown on a loksand rootzone, which gives a reinforced playing surface to enable a better standard to be maintained throughout the entire pitch.
Managing director Barry Simmonds said: "Andy Thompson has been doing both the job as both head groundsman and kit-man. He will concentrate on his duties as kit-man, but his experience will be invaluable to the new groundsman.
"The pitch is fantastic and it is a great opportunity to join the backroom team of an ambitious football club that has shown it is willing to invest to provide the very best facilities.
"This is a very important role within the club and we hope to make an appointment shortly."
