Darlington 2 - 0 Wrexham
Goals from Kevin McBride and Julian Joachim were enough to give ten-man Darlington a 2-0 win over Wrexham.
Goalkeeper Andy Oakes was sent off in the 63rd minute for a professional foul after bringing Michael Proctor down on the edge of the box.
McBride had already given Quakers a 42nd minute lead when the former Motherwell winger headed home on his debut from Pawel Abbott's cross.
However, referee Karl Evans was left with little choice but to show Oakes a red card on his Quakers bow after the stopper brought Proctor to the ground.
From the resulting free-kick, replacement keeper David Stockdale produced a superb save at his near post to deny Proctor.
Joachim provided Darlington with a much-needed two-goal cushion after 72 minutes. After latching on to Tommy Wright's flick on the forward outpaced Richard Hope before firing into the top corner of the net.
Stockdale produced a couple of excellent saves to preserve Darlington's two-goal advantage, ensuring a winning start to the season.
