A SPONSORED walk attracted pirates and princesses to Darlington’s South Park.

The ‘Pirates and Princesses Toddle’ event was organised by the town’s St Teresa’s Hospice and raised money in support of its family support and children’s counselling services.

Entertainment included a treasure hunt, tombola, balloon modelling and a Punch and Judy.

Hospice fundraising manager John Paul Stabler said: “This was not only the first Pirates and Princesses Toddle we’ve held, but the first event we have organised specifically for younger children.

“It’s a very special thing that all the kids taking part will be raising money to help other children going through a very difficult time in their lives."

A best fancy dress competition was also held with the winners receiving family tickets to this year’s pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Darlington Hippodrome theatre.

The contest was judged by special guests, Disney princess Moana and Captain Hook.

Organisers thanked businesses who had supported the event, including the 1st Stop Party Shop, Café Zest and Darlington Hippodrome and Qdos Entertainment.
