THE Lord Lieutenant of Durham has paid a special visit to two successful Darlington businesses with the help of a former mayor and mayoress.
Councillors Brian and Doris Jones, mayor and mayoress of Darlington for 2016-17 welcomed Sue Snowdon to Middleton Hall Retirement Village and Ernest Bennett, an industrial saw blade manufacturer, earlier this week.
Mrs Snowdon went on a tour of Middleton Hall and visited the headquarters of Ernest Bennett and Co, where they unveiled a plaque commemorating 50 years in business together with the company’s chairman, Rob Maxey
Cllr Jones said: “We were impressed that the Lord Lieutenant took such an interest in our ward during our mayoral year, as well as Darlington as a whole, so it is very apt that she has now agreed to pay us a visit."
