A FUN afternoon of tennis is being held in memory of a local hero.
Derek Reeves, a 'grand old servant' of New Blackwell Tennis Club, based in Darlington, will be remembered next month,
Mr Reeves, a Northern Echo Local Hero award winner in 2004, died in December aged 94.
After receiving his award, New Blackwell Tennis Club was presented with The Local Heroes Trophy as a tribute to Mr Reeves , so that his contribution to the club could be remembered with an annual tournament.
Players will get the chance to compete in this year's tournament on Saturday, September 9 at 1.45pm.
A spokesperson for New Blackwell Tennis Club, which is based on Carmel Road South, said: "Derek passed away at the grand old age of 94 last year but the club will remember him and all that he did with a pleasant, competitive and fun afternoon of tennis."
