MINI police officers, firefighters and doctors were among the visitors to a tiny town that appeared in Darlington on Monday.

Youngsters donned fancy dress and explored a miniature town as Darlington’s first roleplaying centre officially opened its doors.

Scores of families enjoyed their visit to Darlington’s Tiny Town on Bank Holiday Monday, with unusual play sessions proving popular throughout the day.

Tiny Town sees children invited to become whoever they dream to be as they explore a town complete with restaurant, police station and doctor’s surgery.

It was opened by owners Ben and Natalie Yates who run similar roleplay centres in Newcastle and Carlisle.

The couple were thrilled at the success of their opening day, which saw every 90 minute session sold out.

Mrs Yates said: “I’m really proud of what we have created in Darlington, it’s our biggest and best play centre yet.

“We’ve been really surprised at how far people have travelled to pay the Tiny Town a visit.”
