FUN runners are expected to flock to South Park to take part in a colourful powdered paint fun run next month.

Dubbed Run the Spectrum, the event, hosted by the North-East Autism Society (NEAS) , aims to generate over £10,000 while also raising awareness of autism.

Participants of all abilities will tackle a 5k route and will doused with powdered paint as they ran through ‘colour zones’ stationed around the course, making a colourful spectacle for all involved.

This year, there will also be the added addition of a foam station.

Sophie Clarke, event organiser, said: “Run the Spectrum is all about having fun with your friends and family - this is an annual event for the charity and keeps getting bigger and better.

“The event is a great way to have fun with your kids all the while raising much needed funds for families living with autism.

“It is less about your level of fitness and more about having a fun time,” she added.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 1 between 10am and 2pm. An adult ticket is £20 and children aged 15 and under can run for free with a participating adult.
