PARENTS were given the chance to come into school during the last day of term on Friday to learn with their children.
St Helen Auckland Primary School opened its doors for a special assembly, before inviting parents into lessons.
In the school hall, the youngsters spoke about how friendly the school was. They also sang songs about the importance of friendship.
The school has its own group, Friends In St Helens (Fish), to help pupils settle in.
It also runs a buddy scheme where youngsters befriend other children in the playground.
Parents were allowed to help their children with work in the classroom and see what they are learning about.
Headteacher Maeve Mackenzie said: "Today is about showing what a friendly school this is.
"It's also chance for parents to come into the school and see what their children are learning."
