TEENAGERS are being given the chance to play in a junk orchestra during a Shakespeare play.
The Funky Junk Orchestra is providing musical interludes and sound effects during Green Theatre's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream in Darlington's South Park next month.
The youngsters, aged 14 to 18 years, will be playing water barrels, dustbin lids, old tumble dryers and other bits of junk.
They will need to attend rehearsals starting on Wednesday June 6, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Walkington House, near the Arts Centre in Vane Terrace.
No previous musical experience is necessary, as the group will include beginners and accomplished drummers.
Rebecca McGarvie, director of Melting Pot Arts, said: "Lots of young people have expressed an interest in the orchestra."

A Midsummer Night's Dream will be held from June 21 to 23 at 7pm, and at 3pm on June 24.
