ACTIVITIES are taking place across Darlington in a crackdown on crime and disorder.
The StreetSafe Action Week, co-ordinated by Darlington Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership, will get under way today.
Organisations, including Darlington Borough Council, the police, fire service, the primary care trust and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, will be tackling crime and anti-social behaviour hotspots until Sunday, May 27.
A pot-planting workshop will take place in front of the YMCA car park, in the Borough Road area, today from 10am to 2pm.
The work will be done by a group that includes youngsters from the area's Top Deck drop-in centre, Millennium Volunteers from the YMCA and residents.
A football tournament, organised in partnership with the Durham FA, takes place in North Lodge Park, on Thursday, from 5pm to 8pm.
Northlands Methodist Church hosts an intergenerational workshop next Saturday from 5pm to 8pm, and the following day, there will be DJ workshops and dance performances in the town centre. On Sunday, May 27, from 3pm to 8.30pm, there will be a "Graffiti in the Park" session in North Park.
