AFTER a hard-fought election campaign, students at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College have announced their new president.
Six students stood for election at the Darlington college, with candidates proposing changes and policies to improve the student experience.
New president of the Student Association is Chetan Kotur, from Newton Aycliffe, while the runner-up and vice-president is Rob Tugwell, who lives near Bedale.
Both students will take on their roles after the spring half-term break.
Mr Kotur said: "I enjoyed the electioneering and am looking forward to the challenges of the year ahead.
"I really want to make a difference."
Mr Tugwell added: "Like Chetan, I want to make a difference and give something back to the college. I'm sure we'll work well together and make a great team."
Queen Elizabeth teacher Melanie Barker, who works with the Student Association, said: "Next year promises to be really exciting. Chetan and Rob are dynamic and I am sure they will have an innovative approach."
