Darlington have today announced the signing of Scunthorpe United defender Steve Foster on a two-year contract.
The centre-back was offered a new contract at Glanford Park but has snubbed the chance of playing in the Championship to team up again with Dave Penney.
The pair worked together at Doncaster Rovers, winning promotion from both the Nationwide Conference and League Two.
The 32-year-old was a regular for Scunthorpe this season and last week was crowned the club's official player of the year.
Penney said: "It has been no secret that one of my main priorities was to dramatically strengthen the back four.
"Steve in particular knows what it takes to achieve promotion having been voted Scunthorpe's player-of-the-season.
"However, this is just the start of my rebuilding and I fully expect to be making more additions to the squad sooner rather than later."
