CYBER students have been giving Darlington's silver surfers a lesson in technology.
Pupils at Polam Hall School have been running computer classes for the town's older people.
The dedicated group of year 11 and sixth form students gave their free time for the weekly lessons as part of a project organised by Age Concern 50+.
Polam Hall headteacher Marie Green said: "The use of computers, and surfing the internet in particular, is becoming an increasingly popular pastime among the older generations and it was important to our pupils, and to the school as a whole, that we were able to share our knowledge and resources with those individuals who wanted to explore the use of IT in their leisure time.
"The young people involved are thoroughly enjoying their teaching roles and I am sure that the participants are benefiting a lot from their experience."
Jean Raby, Age Concern lifestyle co-ordinator, added: "The older people come along and learn something new, and the younger people enjoy themselves and learn a lot. It's great fun - a winning formula that is proving very popular."
