RESIDENTS and schoolchildren teamed up yesterday to clean up their neighbourhood.
Branksome and Cockerton West Community Partnership organised the litter-pick, which took place in the streets around Branksome School.
Pupils from Mount Pleasant Primary School and year seven Branksome School pupils joined in.
The route included Eggleston View, Bylands Way, Malvern Crescent, and the garden in Whitby Way.
The team came back with bin bags full of rubbish which were taken away by Darlington Borough Council's Street Scene team.
Jan Cossins, a member of Branksome and Cockerton West Community Partnership, and chairwoman of Cockerton East Community Partnership, said: "The schools were great and the children worked ever so hard."
Branksome and Cockerton West Community Partnership's next meeting is on Tuesday at 4pm at Branksome Community Centre.
All residents are welcome to attend.
A weeding of the community garden takes place at 10am today.
