DARLINGTON FC

I AM quite shocked at the decisions made by Darlington manager David Penney.

His decision to offer new deals to Clark Keltie, David Stockdale and Kevin Burgess while allowing much better players to leave the club is frightening, and I, too, am beginning to wonder if he is the right man to take the club forward.

I dread to see what new signings he makes in the summer, as no doubt they will come from our feeder clubs

Maybe some of the Darlington fans were right in the first place, and that it should have been Brian Little who took over from the hard-working Quakers legend, David Hodgson. - Christopher Wardell, Darlington. DOG FOULING

RE the recent letter from Heather Stanley regarding dog fouling (HAS, May 8). It's also rife in Darlington.

The borough council says there are wardens on duty from 6am. I have never seen one at that time when out with my

dog, but I have seen plenty of people allowing their dogs to foul because they think they won't be caught at that time of day - like the man in Brinkburn nature reserve who, when politely was offered a bag to clean up, said: "I can't be bothered."

The Denes are also a disgrace, and only once have I seen a warden ask someone to clean up after their dog at 9am. - Thelma Johnson, Darlington.

TOWERING QUESTION

WHY has the new building in West Auckland Road, Darlington, been allowed to be so high?

By being at least 4ft higher than the existing premises, it dwarfs everything.

In these days, I would have thought a large attic space wouldn't be needed, and if it had been on the same level as the other premises, it would have been more in keeping. - John Barr, Darlington.
