A BOROUGH councillor has praised a new apartment complex for elderly people.
Speaking at the official unveiling of the Middleton Woods apartments, in Middleton St George, ward councillor Doris Jones said the newly-completed development was "first class".
Councillor Jones said she was impressed by the quality and standard of the apartments, which have been created through a joint venture between Middleton Hall Limited and Yarm-based house builder Homes by Woodford (formerly Clarion Homes).
She said: "The scheme recognises that getting older doesn't mean being less active, and encourages people to keep on enjoying their lives to the full."
Jeremy Walford, managing director of Middleton Hall, said that he was encouraged by the response to the new development.
"It is very important to us to have the backing of the local community, so the generous comments from Councillor Jones are very welcome," he said.
