MEMBERS of a Darlington service club enjoyed helping out at a fundraising fun run at the weekend.
Several members of Darlington Lions Club enjoyed taking part at the St Teresa's Hospice Santa Fun Run on Saturday (December 6), when they acted as course marshals at the event.
Following the run, at West Park Academy, club president Pat De Martino presented a cheque for £1,500 to hospice chief executive Jane Bradshaw.
Darlington Lions Club has been a supporter of St Teresa's for many years and in the past 12 months has raised £10,000 for the hospice.
This latest donation was the proceeds of the club's recent annual Christmas craft fair, which was held at the Blackwell Grange Hotel.
The Lions Club is a voluntary fundraising organisation and this year the Darlington Lions have been able to support many other causes including Darlington Parkinson's Group, Marie Curie Daffodil Appeal, Help for Heroes and Heel and Toe.
This year's main charity is the Education Centre for children with down syndrome, which is based in Newton Aycliffe and serves the Darlington district and the wider North-East.
