VETERANS visited staff and pupils at a Darlington special school after they raised almost £200 for charity.
Ray Jeffery and John Findlay, chairman and treasurer of the Darlington branch of the Royal British Legion, visited Beaumont Hill Academy, part of Education Village, in Darlington, to thank staff who had knitted poppies to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
Val Lamb, Donna Hopkins, Sarah Richards, Gemma Hickman and Joe Longstaff knitted raised £190 for the Royal British Legion with their efforts by selling the knitted poppies to staff and visitors to the school.
