A PROMISING pair of young athletes have been chosen to represent their county at a national competition.
Layla Bell and Bradley Davies from Carmel College, in Darlington, will represent County Durham in the English Schools Athletics Championships at the Alexander Stadium, in Birmingham, next month.
Layla will run in the junior girls 200m and the relay, while Bradley will take part in the junior boys 200m.
The pair are both in the same class at school and their form tutor Simon Hannaford said: “I am so proud of Layla and Bradley as they have worked so hard to achieve the qualifying times.
“They both won their respective events at the county championships, with Layla running 26.5secs and Bradley 2.09.1 in the 800m.
“The following week Layla added the inter-county title winning in 26.4secs and Bradley finishing runner up in a new personal best time of 2.05.4.
“I am sure they will do even better in Birmingham.”
