AN RAF Hawk will flyover Darlington town centre on Monday and flags will fly to celebrate Armed Forces Day.
The Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Gerald Lee, will attend a special ceremony in the Market Square along with various military associations and around 100 schoolchildren.
The event is to say thank you to all servicemen and women present and past for the contribution they have made to their country.
All are welcome to take part in the service and show their support.
The event starts at 10am in the Market Square, with the Hawk expected to arrive from RAF Leeming for a flyover at 10.30am.
Cllr Lee said: “I am honoured to be part of this occasion that will help to show our gratitude to all who work hard to protect our country.
“It is a particularly poignant time this year as we also celebrate the centenary of the First World War and the 75th anniversary of the D Day landings.
“I urge all to come along and show their support and respect for our troops of past and present.”
