Darlington Mayor Coun Charles Johnson will officially relaunch a village post office on Tuesday following its closure for refurbishment.
The Middleton St George Post Office, based inside the Londis shop on The Square, will now offer an extra 52 hours of postal services over seven days a week following a month-long refurbishment and modernisation.
PRESCRIPTION REMINDER: A Darlington GP and Clinical Commissioning Group spokesman is urging residents on prescription medicines to ensure they are well-stocked before the Easter bank holiday.
The majority of doctors’ surgeries across the borough will be closed for four days over the coming weekend and GP Dr Chris Mathieson said patients on repeat prescriptions should check now that they have enough medicine to last the bank holiday.
BIKE MARKING: Police will be holding bike marking events this week as part of Operation Spoke to cut cycle thefts.
Officers will be security marking bikes for free on Monday at Central House Car Park, Gladstone Street, between 1pm and 3pm and at the same time on Wednesday at EE on Lingfield Way.
FAMILY FUN: Arts and craft activities for the family are being held at The Head of Steam railway museum throughout this Easter week.
The sessions will run from 1pm to 3pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and on Easter Sunday at 11am to 3.30pm.
FESTIVAL PROGRAMME: A host of activities and acts are confirmed as taking part in the Darlington Arts Festival which takes place on April 24 to 27.
