THE Mayor of Darlington will continue his year of cultural events for the town with an evening of lectures celebrating the North East.
Councillor Charles Johnson will welcome Sir John Hall, the former chairman of Newcastle United, and Dr Gill Cookson, a research fellow from Durham University, to Central Hall in the Dolphin Centre, on Thursday, March 6.
Tickets for the Mayor’s Darlington Lecture, which starts at 7pm, are still available from the from the Dolphin Centre reception for £4. Tickets will also be available on the night for £5.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Mayor’s fund.
The lecture is one of several events that have been organised as part of Councillor Johnson’s Mayoral year, including the Strictly Musicals gala event, an outdoor carol concert, Proms in the Park, the Mayor’s Ball and various music nights.
Councillor Johnson said: “The theme of my Mayoral Year has been Civic Pride.
“We should all be taking pride in our town, and the North East; it is a wonderful place, full of industry and hard working people. I’m delighted that we have two eminent representatives of the North East speaking at the Mayor’s Lecture.”
