A HEROIN addict stole a television from a town centre hotel after walking through corridors trying to open various doors, a court was told.
Terence Watson walked into the King’s Hotel, in Priestgate, Darlington, on February 11, prosecutor Alan Davison told magistrates.
Watson, 39, went on to steal three electric toothbrushes, from Superdrug in the nearby Cornmill shopping centre.
The following day, he stole two waterproof jackets, worth £160, from Milletts.
Mr Davison said Watson had gambled away money he would have used for food.
Sonny Lawson, mitigating, said the root of all Watson’s offences was his heroin addiction.
Watson, of Stanhope Road North, admitted burglary and two counts of theft.
The case was adjourned for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Watson was released on bail, with the condition that he does not enter Darlington town centre.
