GARAGE THEFT: Durham Police are appealing for witnesses after a garage at a detached house in Piercebridge, near Darlington, was entered by thieves sometime between 11am and 1pm on Monday, February 24. Two mountain bikes and several items of petrol driven garden equipment were stolen. Police believe the thieves would have needed a vehicle to take all of the items. PC Walker, of Darlington priority crime team, said: "We are appealing for any information in relation to this burglary particularly regarding vehicles parked in the layby near to the Roman Fort or any persons seen in the area at or around this time.” Information can be passed to PC 493 Latcham or PC 2496 Walker at Darlington Priority Crime Team by calling Durham Police on 101.
WINDOW SMASHED: A window was smashed at Cockerton Fisheries, on Woodland Road, Darlington, sometime between 2.10pm on Sunday, February 23, and 6am on Monday, February 24. Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency 101 number, quoting reference DJ1401156.
GARDEN HELP: The Friends of South Park gardening group is looking for new members to help maintain the flower beds. The group meets on the first Saturday of every month between March and September. The first meeting of the season will take place this Saturday (March 1) at 9.30am, meeting at the clock tower. Gardeners should wear warm clothes and sturdy footwear.
