POLICE in Darlington have acted to tackle anti-social behaviour in Cockerton after concerns were raised by local people.
Officers patrolling the area on Friday stopped a group of youths and confiscated alcohol, while on Saturday police were called to reports of young people kicking a ball against the window of a café.
On both occasions, officers took the details of the young people who were involved and they will receive a visit from the anti-social behaviour team at Darlington Borough Council in a bid to prevent further bad behaviour.
A police spokeswoman said: “Following concerns raised by members of the community about anti-social behaviour in Cockerton, local police officers have taken positive action to deal with the youths concerned, and to reassure people that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
“Durham Constabulary understands the devastating consequences anti-social behaviour can have within our communities and works together with the council to protect vulnerable and repeat victims and deal with the perpetrators.”
Victims of anti-social behaviour are asked to contact the police on the non-emergency number, 101.
