A STRING of events are being planned across the region to celebrate International Women’s Day next month.
Taking place on March 8, International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global event which aims to celebrate the achievements of women past, present and future.
Each year thousands of events are held on IWD which aim to reflect upon female achievements and inspire women.
Events in celebration of IWD include:
- A free Inspiring Females seminar, at Tees Valley Unlimited, in Stockton, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, on March 7. The event will offer women in business and leadership a chance to network and learn from one another. Jo Hand, winner of the Susan Dobson award for North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year will also be speaking at the event;
- Northumbria University will be showcasing research on women and inequality on March 5. The university’s department of social sciences and languages will be showcasing research from its staff and PhD students. The event will take place in Room 204 of the Lipman Building, Northumbria University, from 12.45pm until 4.30pm;
- Comedians Jessica Fostekew and Kiri Pritchard-McLean will be performing at The Forum, in Darlington, on March 25, hosted by Hilarity Bites Comedy Club. Doors open at 7.30pm, with an 8pm start. Tickets cost £5.50;
- An IWD market will be held at Durham Town Hall, from 10am to 3pm, on March 8. To reserve a stall, email info@durhamcreatives.co.uk or call 0191-300-0146.
