A WOMAN who lost money in the collapse of Christmas savings club Farepak has won a food hamper in a competition.
Amanda Metcalfe is a winner of Darlington Borough Council's 12 Days of Christmas promotion.
Mrs Metcalfe, a party planner from Harrowgate Hill, feared lost £100 when Farepak went into liquidation in October.
She and her husband, Graham, entered the council's Christmas prize draw in the town's indoor market, in which 12 hampers are given away.
Mrs Metcalfe said: "It was such a lovely surprise to win this hamper after everything with Farepak.
"I know some people have lost a lot of money, and we only lost £100, but it's still quite a bit.
"But winning this hamper has been great. There's some lovely things in there that will be really nice with the Christmas dinner."
