KIND-HEARTED youngsters at a Darlington school raised £500 to throw a Christmas party for their community.
Year seven pupils at Hurworth School Maths and Computing College planned and held a Christmas party for about 100 people from the community after raising the money themselves.
Entertainment was provided by dancer Catrina Dulston, 13, Chris Smith, 14, who played the saxophone, and 15-year-old singer Hayley McKay.
There was a play performed by the year ten drama group, and there were also various readings as well as refreshments and decorations.
The party was organised by assistant headteacher Lindsay Bunn and head of performing arts Clare Suddes.
Year seven pupils raised the money over the term through various fundraising activities.
Rita Rees, food technology teacher, who was also involved in the preparations, said: "It was absolutely fabulous.
"Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it."
