A SINGLE mother who set up a business to provide after-school activities for children is expanding the classes after Christmas.
Di Jackson, who set up Planet Sport Kids' Club after becoming disillusioned with Darlington's lack of after-school activities, is starting adult fitness sessions.
The women-only classes will be held at Branksome and Hummerknott schools after Christmas.
Women will have a choice of cardio-soccer or cardio-tennis, which aim to use the skills from the sports to give participants an all-over aerobic workout.
Ms Jackson is also organising a holiday camp at Longfield and Hummersknott schools between January 2 and January 5.
Activities will include tag rugby, mini-tennis, mini-golf, dance and archery.
The sessions run from 9am to 3.30pm and the full week costs £40.
Ms Jackson said the holiday camp would help parents who had to to work during the school Christmas holiday and would give children a chance to try new sports.
"The whole idea is to give children a chance to try everything," she said. "I don't think there is anything quite like the Christmas holiday camp."
