AN MP's Christmas card has an international flavour after a Darlington schoolgirl joined forces with a Chinese friend to design it.
Lucy Durham, ten, a pupil at Abbey School, designed the winning Christmas card for Darlington MP Alan Milburn.
She was helped by her Chinese friend, Betty, who visited the Darlington school from China with the Guandong County Garden School earlier this year. The pair's design will be turned into more than 1,000 cards, which are expected to be sent to Prime Minister, Tony Blair, among others.
The front of the card features a snow globe with an image of Darlington, while the rear shows a Chinese house and snowman with the words "Hope China and England can be friends forever."
Mr Milburn runs the card competition every year.
