A PARISH council has criticised plans to convert a house into apartments.
The proposal involves converting Mown Meadows, at Middleton Lane, Middleton St George, into four apartments and building an extra four apartments.
However, the parish council felt there was insufficient parking for the development and it could harm the look of that area of the village.
Members agreed to recommend to Darlington Borough Council that the plan is rejected.
Councillor Doris Jones said there were rooms for up to 47 people in the development.
She said: "Even if half those people are children, there still are 23 or 24 residents who are potentially vehicle drivers.
"It would be seriously detrimental to the character of Middleton St George conservation area and this is outside the development area."
