ACTRESS Denise Welch, who is starring as the Fairy Godmother in the pantomime Cinderella, brought some Christmas magic to children at a shop in Darlington.
The former Coronation Street star, who is appearing at Darlington Civic Theatre, joined pupils from Dodmire Junior School, as they posted their wish lists to Santa in the Wishes' store festive post box.
The shop, in High Row, is owned by Cancer Research UK.
The children won the chance to meet Ms Welch and help launch the Christmas post box at the shop.
The pupils - Courtney Price, Meghan Catterick, Michaela Crosby, Caitlin Atkinson, Chantelle Carney and Eleasha Duncan - created winning entries for a competition to design Christmas cards, which have been on display in the store.
Wishes store manager Lisa Heywood said: "We are absolutely delighted that Denise and the children are visiting our new Wishes store and helping to launch our Christmas post box.
"We hope local children and their families will pop in to post their own wish lists to Father Christmas and buy some of the wonderful festive cards and gifts we have for sale at the same time.
"Cancer Research UK's Darlington Wishes store opened in September and we are really looking forward to our first Christmas. We are hoping that local people will embrace the new shop as all the profits raised help to fund Cancer Research UK's lifesaving research."
