Two goals from David Dowson ensured Darlington eased into the next round of the Durham Challenge Cup last night with a 3-1 win at Harton & Westoe.
Dowson and Paul Robinson were the only senior players in Quakers' otherwise youthful side, who gave debuts to recent signings Curtis Edwards and Bruno Pilatos.
Quakers had to come from behind after Lowton headed home for Wearside League Harton, before Dowson's double put Darlington ahead.
The first was teed up by Robinson with the second a cracking strike by the forward, and it was young defender Matty Lovegreen who finished off the scoring in the second half with a volley.
Darlington: Williamson, Coatsworth, O'Connor, Hall, Lovegreen, Cocks, Edwards, Pilatos, Dowson, Lupton, Robinson. Subs: Bell (gk), Pickering, Tallentire, Taylor, Allinson
* Darlington will play at Salford on September 28. Their original opposition, Cammell Laird, will instead be involved in the FA Cup.
Quakers had been due to play at Salford on April 12.
