ELM Ridge Methodist Church, in Carmel Road South, Darlington, holds its annual Garden Party in the church grounds on Saturday (June 8). There will be stalls and activities, including a bouncy castle and a steam train, face painting, ice-cream, a barbecue, book stall, bric-a-brac, plants, Traidcraft and games. Visitors can sample the famous Elm Ridge Teas in the church hall, enjoy the atmosphere and be entertained by local band Costa-Del-Soul. From the proceeds a donation will be made to two cancer charities. Gates open at 1.45pm and events start from 2pm.
MOVING ON: The Reverend Michael Dent, recently rector of St John’s Church, in Darlington, has been appointed vicar of Warkworth and Acklington, in Northumberland. He took up his post on May 15.
