MEAT SALES: Police have advised people in Darlington to think twice before buying cheap meat after a number of thefts of meat products from supermarkets around the town. A police spokeswoman said: “Items such as meat are often stolen by shoplifters, not because they are hungry, but because meat is relatively easy for them to sell on for cash, which sometimes funds drug habits. Please be aware of this if you are offered cheap meat from someone.”
