A MEMORIAL service in honour of murdered soldier Drummer Lee Rigby is to be held in Darlington.
Organisers of the event, planned for the Cenotaph in the grounds of the Memorial Hospital, hope that residents will attend as a show of support for the whole of the Armed Forces from the town.
Drummer Rigby, 25, of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was killed in a suspected terrorist attack in Woolwich, South London, last week, sparking an outpouring of grief.
The memorial service will start at 10.30am on Sunday, June 2, with a minute’s silence to be held at 11am.
Members of the Royal British Legion are expected to attend and all members of the public are invited to take part.
