YOUNGSTERS from across Darlington are taking their chance to get active this week, with a wide range of half-term activities on offer.
Table tennis tournaments, Wii Sports, ten-pin bowling and a visit from the Martin Gray Football Academy are just some of the attractions in the Darlington Community Games.
Despite being hampered by early rain, the opening day of the games, on Tuesday (May 28), offered a fun way to keep active through the holidays, as youngsters aged ten to 16 were invited to take part.
Gary Arnold is organising the games, at the Phoenix Centre, in Eldon Street.
He said: “Tees Valley Sport provided us with a grant to host the events, which are designed to encourage everybody to get involved in sport.”
“The games start from 1.30pm and finish at around 3.30, with sports, games and food nutritionists here to get kids interested in health and fitness.”
“There are a variety of activities to get involved with, and all abilities are invited, whether you came yesterday or not.”
