WORK hard, play hard is a phrase often used – but there aren’t many places you can do both at the same time.
Lingfield Point, Darlington, offers a full programme of activities to promote health and well-being, crafting, recycling, and lots more - just to add a bit of fun into the working day!
The business park, where 2,500 workers are based, has announced its latest programme of events – including a new ‘stash buster’ event for wannabe crafters - and collaborations with new partner Teesside University.
Stash Busters is aimed at people who’ve been hoarding bits of material, ribbon, pretty buttons and embellishments – with no idea what they were going to do with them - crafting specialists will help turn them into something attractive, useful and recycled.
Becky Sunter, Lingfield Point’s artist in residence and owner of Tabby Textiles, said: “A lot of people have a secret hoard of bits and pieces that are just too nice to throw away but seem to serve no purpose. We’re full of ideas to change that!”
Working with Teesside University, Lingfield Point will also run a series of competitions including digital photography and creative writing.
John Orchard, director of Marchday, which owns Lingfield Point, says it is important to offer a balance so that customers get the best out of their employees helping boost well-being and sparking creativity.
Events include fit camps to help workers whip themselves into shape, cycle hire, walking trails, outdoor games, visits from the a mobile beauty salon, knitting and gardening classes.
- Lingfield Point is home to around 2,500 workers including AMEC, The Student Loans Company, Four Seasons Healthcare and the NFU.
Taylor Wimpey has also recently begun on the Millfields housing development which will move Lingfield Point towards its masterplan ambitions of being the most sustainable mixed-use development in Europe.
