MONTHLY rock nights will be held at the Travellers Rest, in Cockerton, starting on Friday (May 31), at 8pm. North-East rock band The Whole Hog will be the first to appear, covering music from bands like Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, The Who and Pink Floyd. Tickets, priced £6, are available from the venue, or at the door.
CENTRE CLOSED: The Darlington Borough Council-run recycling centre, in Whessoe Road, was closed on Friday (May 24), due to high winds. Residents were advised to call 01325-354-867 before travelling to the tip, to check whether it had reopened.
SIGN UP: Residents of Park West, Darlington, are invited to a Neighbourhood Watch recruitment evening, at Harewood House, in Harewood Hill, at 6pm, on Wednesday, June 5. There will be a brief presentation and members of the scheme will be available to answer questions from residents.
MAYOR’S PLANS: Darlington mayor Charles Johnson will visit Kirkleatham Museum, in Redcar, for the investiture of the mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, on Wednesday (May 29). On Friday, May 31, he will attend a launch event, at the Dolphin Centre, for Soroptimist International’s campaign against domestic and sexual abuse.
COUNCIL MEETS: The next meeting of Hurworth Parish Council will be held at 7pm, on Thursday, June 6, at Hurworth Grange Community Centre.
