A DARLINGTON woman is appealing for help as she organises a large protest in support of the NHS.
The protest against the Coalition Government’s changes to the NHS is set to take place in the town on Saturday, July 27.
Speakers at the event will include Green Party leader Natalie Bennett and Clive Peedell, leader of the National Health Action Party.
Organiser Joanna Adams is calling for the community to gather together and help the event run smoothly.
She is inviting the public to attend a meeting on Monday to show their support and assist in organising the event.
She said: “I would like to invite anyone who would like to contribute to the event, distribute leaflets, or who might have access to equipment we could use, as well as anyone who wants to actively participate.
“It is my belief that the NHS is being systematically destroyed and it is intentional and not enough people realise that.
“If they knew the full extent of what is happening and what is being planned across the country, they would be outraged.
“Non-emergency ambulances are being privatised and accident and emergency departments are being closed.
“I want to raise awareness of decisions like that in a way that does not isolate people by being party political.”
The meeting will be held at Cafe Create on Parkgate Chambers from 10am on Monday May 27.
