CAKE SALE: Waterstones book shop in Darlington will host a cake sale inspired by Bruce Bogtrotter from Roald Dahl’s Matilda to support the Children’s Reading Fund. The event will include staff dressed up as characters from the book, quizzes and cake. The free event is open between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, May 18.
COFFEE MORNING: A monthly coffee morning will be held at Northgate United Reform Church, in Northgate, Darlington, on Saturday, May 18, between 10am and noon. There will be a tombola, bric a brac stall and second hand books.
RAILWAY MEETING: The North East Railway Association will meet at the Head of Steam – Darlington Railway Museum on Saturday, May 18, between 1.15pm and 3.30pm. The event will include a talk by Colin Ryder, who will conclude his County Durham Miscellany.
