AN exhibition highlighting the talents of artists who use a community arts centre has gone on display as part of the Darlington Arts Festival.
The Building Bridges exhibition aims to show the wide choice of artistic forms that people can try at The Bridge Centre for Visual Arts, which opened in July 2012 following the closure of the former Arts Centre.
The exhibition features a variety of different types of work including paintings, drawings, etchings, ceramics, photography, jewellery, textiles and woodcarving, all of which has been created by regular users of the centre.
Part of the Darlington Arts Festival, which is taking place at venues across the town, the exhibition is on display until June 22.
Among the groups that have used the Bridge Centre include the Openart Studio, the Community Art Project, the Press Gang Etching Group, North East Scribes and Darlington Media Group. Stephen Wiper, manager of Creative Darlington, which supports arts in the town, said: “The Bridge Centre opened to support artists and encourage visual arts involvement for Darlington and has quickly established itself as a key venue housing visual arts workshops, courses and activity in Darlington.
“This group exhibition celebrates the talents of artists who have engaged with the building since its opened and includes many different types of work.”
The Bridge Centre offers a number of workshops and courses for adult learners in the visual arts. For more information call 01325-244174.
