MONDAY, MAY 13

WRITERS’ WORKSHOP: Bennet House Writers will hold their weekly writing group at Café Create from 10am to noon. All writers are invited to come and find out more about the group. Alan Hall will also be launching his second book, The Gospels in Verse, at the event.

FILM CLUBS: Jim Henson’s cult fantasy film, The Dark Crystal (U), will be shown at the Youth Film Club at The Forum, in Borough Road, Darlington from 5.30pm. Tickets are £1.50.

Terry Gilliam’s fantasy epic, Brazil (15), will be shown at Darlington Film Club, at The Forum, in Borough Road, from 8pm.

QUAKERHOUSE GIG: Dave Cadman and Friends will play at the acoustic night at The Quakerhouse, in Mechanics Yard, Darlington.

MARKET SHOWCASE: The Love Your Local Market event, coordinated by Darlington for Culture and Darlington Borough Council, will run from 10am to 3pm in the Market Square and will include a number of stalls, workshops and entertainment to showcase the variety of arts and culture in Darlington.

The day will also include an upcycling family fun art workshop with artist, Yvonne Preston, to create recycled pieces of art with an Alice in Wonderland tea party theme.
