PLAYERS WANTED: The Spraire Lasses under-10s girls’ football team are looking for new players to join the side. This season the team finished second in the table and won ten games out of 14 played. PARISH MEETING: The annual parish meeting of Whessoe Parish Council will be held on Monday, May 20, at 7pm in Whessoe Parish Hall, in Harrowgate Village, Darlington. All residents are invited to attend.

JAZZ CLUB: The Sue Ferris Quintet will perform at the Opus 4 Jazz Club, in the Travellers Rest, in Cockerton, on Friday, May 17. Doors open at 8pm. Tickets are £6 on the door.

CHURCH SERVICE: The Northgate United Reform Church, in Northgate, Darlington, will hold a special service on Sunday (May 12) to mark the start of Christian Aid week. The service will start at 10.45am.

HISTORY WALK: David Howlet will lead a guided walk with the Historical Society called Eastbourne railways, freeholders and the garden suburb on Sunday, May 12, at 1.45pm. Walkers should meet outside St John’s Church, at the junction between Yarm Road and Neasham Road.
