OUTGOING Mayor of Darlington, Paul Baldwin has presented more than £6,000 raised during his year in office to St Teresa's Hospice and the Great North Air Ambulance.
He handed over cheques for £3,125.58 to both charities and an extra £720, raised at a mayoral event, to the Charlie Bear for Cancer Care Charitable Fund at Newcastle Hospitals.
Coun Baldwin said: "These are both two local charities that do so much in the local area for local people.
“It has been humbling this past year to see the great work that both charities carry out on a daily basis.
"In these difficult financial times charities need all the funds they can raise so I can only hope that the money I have raised goes some small way to helping these two great charities.
"The money I have raised has been from the people in Darlington in general, and in particular the members at Cockerton Club, colleagues at Sedgefield Community College and last but not least from family and my friends in the Darlington Scooter Club."
