FRENCH lessons were brought to life for Queen Elizabeth College students who visited Paris to further their studies.
The 34 students, all studying French at A-level, stayed with host families in Lisses near Paris and spent two days in the capital taking in sights such as the Notre Dame towers, the Panthéon, la Sainte Chapelle and the Paris catacombs.
The students also learnt the ‘Paris Story’ at an interactive visitor centre which teaches visitors about the history of Paris and its people.
A tour of the Château of Fontainebleau and its gardens was a big hit with the students who also spent half a day in a local secondary school to gain insight into the French education system - one of the key AS level examination topics.
Sam Baty, head of French at QE, said: “Spending time in Paris and staying with families gave the students an excellent opportunity to practise their French and experience French life first hand.
“During the whole trip there was a real sense of camaraderie amongst the group and they were excellent ambassadors for the College.
“They very much enjoyed experiencing French culture and meeting French people - their French language skills and confidence really improved by the end of the week.”
